MeanMigrationSpeed
Created Thursday 20 March 2014
Model used to calculate a mean value for the time span needed for particles to travel through the combustion volume.
1. Purpose of Model
This model calculates a mean value for the time span needed for particles to travel through the combustion volume depending on the flue gas volume flow rates.
2. Level of Detail, Physical Effects Considered and Physical Insight
2.1 Level of Detail
Referring to Brunnemann et al. [1], this submodel refers to the level of detail L2.
3. Limits of Validity
- It is assumed that the particles travel with the same speed as the mean flue gas velocity inside the volume
4. Interfaces
5. Nomenclature
6. Governing Equations
It is assumed that the particles travel with the same speed as the mean flue gas velocity inside the volume. Thus the particle velocity is calculated as follows:

7. Remarks for Usage
This model is applied in furnace models where combustion takes place.
